History

A passion for the outdoors first led George Dalziel (Dal) to the north country in 1929, where he explored the north as a young trapper in the 1930’s, and then as a pioneer bush pilot. He and his wife June had a lifelong love of the northern wilderness and an appreciation for the natural world. They founded the original outfitting company in the same area as today, offering guided hunts to compliment their established business of BC Yukon Air Service. Dal and June raised a family, and lived seasonally between Telegraph Creek and Watson Lake, Yukon.

Dal retired thirty years later, and his daughter Sherry and son-in-law Myles were appointed to continue building the business that Dal had initiated. Having been involved in the business for many years, this was a natural step for Sherry and Myles who in turn raised their own family in the north and within the guiding area, providing a unique way of life for their children.

Today, their daughter Devlin and her husband Billy Oestreich are taking the business forward into the next generation with a well-established client base. Many people have become friends as well as clients and return year after year often with their own families.

Bradford & Co. is a small, close knit business, assisted by a crew of family members and other dedicated and professional guides, wranglers and cooks who help carry forward the tradition established by the Dalziel, Bradford and Oestreich families.

Area

The boundaries of our concession are 120 miles long and 50 miles wide, covering 6000 square miles in the Cassiar Mountains. The many well-stocked lakes are accessible only by aircraft. The main valleys’ elevations are at 2500 feet, the timberline is at 5000 feet, and the mountain tops average 6500 feet.

Accommodations

Our base camp is a large, comfortable lodge, where you will enjoy home cooked wild game meals. There are other satellite camps, consisting of simple warm cabins, situated on lakes throughout the area. From these camps, clients pack out with horses to spike camps which are quick set up/ take down tents. Base camps are equipped with radios and satellite phones for outside contact and camp-to-camp communications. Guides carry radios for emergencies. All camps have bush plane support.
